“So, you are feeling old…and your body just doesn’t work the way it use to….and ‘retirement’ is approaching….then what?
Well, two of Plan-it Life’s clients Robin Garland and Antonio Stichovich were recently showcased in the Queensland press for their fantastic attitude to life in the mid-late 60’s.
"Age is a state of mind," laughs Robin Garland. "Our lives are now all about challenges," she says.
Sitting on the back verandah of Robin Garland's and Tony Sticovich's Scarborough home, which they have just sold, is both a pleasant and an exciting experience.
Three months ago Garland and Stichovich went on a holiday - out bush. There's nothing unusual about that. Something happened to them however in the tranquil valleys of northern New South Wales, that has totally changed the direction of the couple's lives. "We loved the peace and tranquility of the bush - no traffic noise or pollution - it was heaven," says Tony. So imbued with a newfound love of the bush, the couple returned to the Peninsula, set about selling their Scarborough home and searched the bush of southeast Queensland for their 8000sq m block.
They found it after searching around Gympie, Kilcoy and most other country hamlets west and north of Redcliffe. "It's a 100-year old cottage near Toogoolawah, nestled at the foot of Mt Beppo. It's everything we wanted. The cottage is in good condition and we are going to have chooks, a vegie garden and an orchard."
Now why would a couple in their sixties suddenly sell their home in Scarborough and escape to the bush, where facilities are sparse and distances are greater?
"We thought about that a lot but we are not too far from Caboolture and Kilcoy - so we'll be OK," said Tony.
So, if you want a bit more zing! in your life….sure you can call it Retirement Planning….but we prefer to call it Life Planning!!!!!
