Things I'd like to do before 70 competition

The winners of this competition  were:

  • Faye Thamm
  • Lorraine Mouafi
  • Hinke Bines
  • Garry Smailes
  • Colleen Briody
  • Rex Ball

The winning entries are reprinted below:

  • I have more than 1 thing that I would like to achieve ,before I am 70. Abseiling and skydiving I love to challenge myself ,and reach new heights of delight places to go eastern Europe ,and a stay and travel through France, fantabulous and posimistic( made up words that I love )
  • As a new resident of Coffs Harbour with more than 30 years of business development experience, I want to give back to the community by volunteering my services as a business mentor. Another goal is to establish a small business consultancy where I will concentrate of assisting enterprises with improved business opportunities projects. I would like to travel to Europe, Canada and Alaska before I turn 70.
  • Before I turn 70 one of my goals is to get closer to all of my extended family, including my 12 grandchildren. I will have more time for this when I retire, but am not waiting for that, as every moment is precious. I work with people receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer, which brings home to me that I need to be working towards my long-term goals NOW
  • One place I would like to revisit before I turn 70 is Rome - the eternal city.  I have been very privileged to have spent some time in Rome, which I found a most wonderful experience.  Seeing The Colosseum, which could seat 50,000 spectators was mind boggling considering that this structure was built 2000 years ago.  To realise that the Romans flooded The Colosseum and had naval battles and, of course, where the Christians were fed to the lions was a very sobering experience.
Then to visit The Imperial Forums and imagine Julius Caesar addressing the Senate.  To visit the Arch of Constantine, the House of the Vestal Virgins and just to be there felt, to me, like walking through history.  Rome is a place I think everyone should visit before they die.
  • My dream holiday is to return to Darwin where my wife and I lived for many years to see the new $29 Million dollar crocodile showpiece. Located in the centre of Darwin Town Northern Territory where huge crocodiles lay motionless and camouflaged along side a log 3m under the water with their eyes and huge jaws wide open . You can swim with Burt or Choppa in a $120 adrenalin rush in a cage which would be an experience we would never forget.  A jaw dropping experience in the cage of death where tourists swim with  crocodiles in Darwin's  Crocosaurus Cove protected only by a Perspex wall.
  • I would dearly like to earn enough to pay out my mortgage before I turn 70. Experience the complete freedom in not owing a cent and being able to enjoy life with my friends.
